Let's say you have a large collection of CDs or DVDs and you would like to know the content of each CD or DVD without inserting the actual disc into the drive. This is not possible without an application for creating disc covers. One such program is CoverFactory. Judging by its name, we can say that the software allows creating various types of disc covers in the easiest way possible.

The program can be installed without effort on almost any version of the Windows operating system, including XP and Windows 7. It takes only a few clicks to get the program into the operating system. The hard disk space occupied by the program folder is around 10 MB, which is not much considering the program's functions.

Speaking about the interface of CoverFactory, it features two large graphical buttons, one for creating a new project and the other for opening an existing one. Clicking on the first button will open a welcome window from where the user can select a desired CD or DVD project. There are many to choose from. After completing this step, the user is guided through a step by step wizard for completing the cover project. CoverFactory comes with two sample cover projects, allowing the user to get familiar with the software's functionality more quickly.

One just needs to open a couple of images, for acting as background images. The user can apply different effects and corrections to the images, for making them suitable for any type of disc cover. Besides adding images, one can also add various shapes and lines to the cover and even text, for personalizing it even more.

After the cover has been created, the user can save it as a cover file, for reusing it later on. Alternatively, he can render the project to an image file, for printing it.

Pros

It features a step by step wizard for creating covers. Besides that, it includes a lot of different types of cover projects to choose from. Furthermore, various elements, like shapes and lines, can be added to the cover.

Cons

The trial version doesn't allow rendering the project to an image file. CoverFactory is a great software for creating some nice looking covers for any type of disc.
